Currently, Josh is on a full scholarship with the Atlanta
Ballet. Of all the scholarship students chosen by the
Atlanta Ballet, Josh is the only dancer selected to take company
classes and perform with them. He recently performed Requiem
with the company at the Fox Theater. All this and he is
still just shy of his 17th birthday.
For Davis, of course, it keeps her studio
at the epicenter of a dance boom in Fayette County, as well as in
the eye of the professional dance companies. Each year, she
manages to bring guest instructors and artists from around the
world, around the corner. Her staff also includes Ramazon
Bapov, another principal dancer with the Bolshoi Theater in
Moscow, and Tatiana Joravel, who began her career at age ten at
the Kiev Ballet Academy. |
But as
of her visiting staff as she is, Davis gives as much credit to the
staff who teaches the majority of the 465 students every
day. "Every one of them is completely dedicated to
their kids."
The Georgia Academy of Dance has all levels of
dancers. "You don't have to aspire to a career in
dance," says Davis. "we also want the kids to have
fun," and adds, "dance not only teaches them the
physical things in life, it also teaches them how to endure, it
teaches them persistence, and how to be a team player."
That is not just a formula for success.
That is an enduring legacy.
