We train for excellence in dance from Dance Team to Performing Company Levels
Did you know?
Countless local Dance Team dancers - past and present - have received their foundational dance training from Artistic Director Sherri Davis at Georgia Academy of Dance & the Performing Arts through a comprehensive dance curriculum with emphasis on Ballet and the Contemporary. Several of our alumni have continued their Dance Team life both collegiately and for professional sports teams, where they have danced for the University of Georgia Dance Dawgs, Georgia Tech Goldrush, and Atlanta Falcons cheerleading squad.
We have trained the Starrs Mill Dance Team Pantherettes for 12 seasons in Ballet and Contemporary.
In addition, throughout the years we have trained dancers in elite dance technique from local schools such as McIntosh, Whitewater, Newnan High,
East Coweta, and more.
And Georgia Academy of Dance & the Performing Arts has provided the formal training for local studio private competitive teams as well.
Our Company level training has been consistently commended for its' high level of quality training and presentation by the Georgia Council of the Arts and the National Endowment for the Arts.
We believe our emphasis on sound technique, dancer self-confidence, and a supportive educational environment is the foundation for these continued results.
We are honored to be able to provide a safe and proven path to achieve Dance Team status locally and at the collegiate level.
We have been training high school dancers pursuing a college dance life for the past 35 seasons. We believe in an appropriate and ethical path of elite training to achieve a dancer's desire to dance as a competitive sport.
NOTE:
We emphasize genuine dance education that can lead students toward college scholarships or professional careers. We do not endorse unethical training or business practices in the development of competitive dancers, as we believe that dance should be taught through technically advanced methods by experienced professionals, rather than by inexperienced instructors or teenagers, as often seen in other local studios. We support competitive dancers who seek appropriate training to further their artistic journey. Our mission values the true artistry of dance over merely winning trophies, as competitions often exclude the top pre-professional and professional companies worldwide, rendering those titles less meaningful. Additionally, we advocate for school and college dance teams that prioritize ethical training practices.

We are proud of the impact we make on our dancers each day, but don't take our word for it - see some student testimonies below:
Parent Testimony of Whitewater Dance Team Member
"Sherri - almost 16 years with GAD...wow... We attribute your high standards to much of our daughter's strong character. You know how to push for excellence, while still ensuring fun and love is felt in the studio. From our most sincere hearts, thank you!"
Former McIntosh Dance Team member and current Dance Educator Testimony:
"I am forever grateful for all the memories I have from my years with you and for the way you laid the foundation for my love of dance."
Former UGA Dancer & Captain & current Dance Educator:
"The incredible training I received at GAD was pivotal in my journey to making the Dance Dawgs at UGA. The variety of dance styles I was able to study at GAD gave me the versatility needed at the collegiate level where you're expected to learn and retain 100+ dances and combinations each season spanning jazz, jazz funk, cheer, contemporary, and hip-hop styles. The focus on technique and artistry I gained from GAD gave me the confidence and necessary foundation to excel in the competitive world of college dance, and I'm grateful for all the opportunities and experiences I've had thanks to this amazing studio!"
