    The Georgia Academy of dance offers piano lessons, voice lessons, guitar (acoustic, electric, bass), ukulele, songwriting, and music technology.

    Frequently Asked Questions:

    1.  Why private lessons?

    This enables the student to have a far superior atmosphere of learning. It enables the student to learn at their own pace and instructors can work on individual weaknesses and strengths. Private lessons offer a great opportunity for in-school band and orchestra students to enhance their technique and progress at a much faster pace – without the intimation of a large group setting.

    2.  Will students perform?

    Yes – There will be two music recitals throughout the season.

    3.  Will students participate in competitions?
    The instructor will select intermediate to advanced students to participate in various yearly competitions – at Music Educator’s discretion.

    4.  Where will the lessons be conducted?
    All music and voice lessons will be conducted in private music rooms with viewing windows at Georgia Academy of Dance & the Performing Arts.

    5.  What age should my child start music lessons?

    Piano:  Age 6 & up (Younger ages accepted per interview)
    Piano lessons involve learning the fundamentals of playing the piano and reading music.  Special attention is given to music theory, classical technique, and repertoire.  Interested students may study improvisation and composition.  GAD offers several performance opportunities throughout the school year, some of which are adjudicated.  Students may participate in GMTA Auditions beginning in Grade 4.  Beginner to professional students are welcome.  



    Acoustic, Electric, Bass Guitar:  Ages 8 & up
    Acoustic and Electric Guitar lessons involve learning all the fundamentals of playing the guitar – basic techniques of position, fingering, chords and reading music.  Special attention is given to music theory, classical technique, and repertoire.  Interested students may study improvisation, composition.  GAD offers several performance opportunities throughout the school year.  Beginner to advanced students are welcome.


    Classical Guitar:  Ages 11 & up
    Classic Guitar classes involve learning the advanced concepts of finger style guitar and reading music.  Special attention is given to music theory, classical technique, and repertoire.  Interested students may study improvisation and composition.  GAD offers several performance opportunities throughout the school year.  Beginner to advanced students are welcome.

    Bass Guitar: Ages 8 & up
    Bass guitar lessons provide foundational skills for new and intermediate players, covering instrument anatomy, proper tuning, and essential playing techniques like plucking with alternating fingers and fretting. Lessons teach music theory, rhythm, reading tablature (tab), and ear training to help students learn and play songs and bass lines in various musical styles.  Interested students may study improvisation and composition.  GAD offers several performance opportunities throughout the school year.  Beginner to intermediate students are welcome.

    Ukulele - Ages 6 & up (Younger ages accepted per interview)
    Ukulele lessons teach beginners how to play the instrument, starting with fundamental skills like holding, tuning, strumming, and progressing to playing chords and popular songs.  Lessons cover basic music theory, technique, using a step-by-step approach to build a strong musical foundation and help students gain confidence.   Advanced students will explore more complex strumming techniques and a wider variety of songs.  Interested students may study improvisation and composition.  GAD offers several performance opportunities throughout the school year.  Beginner to advanced students are welcome.


    Introduction To Voice:  Ages 6, 7 & 8
    This class involves instruction in building foundations that last and developing essential skills for growing voices.

    Voice:  Ages 9 and up
    This class involves instruction in building a foundation, developing proper singing techniques and ensuring the proper use of the voice (posture, breathing, warm-ups, tone, diction, rhythm, etc.)

    Songwriting: - Students will learn to compose music and write lyrics with special attention to form and rhythm, beginner to advanced.

    Music Technology: - Students will learn to produce their own music in a professional environment with the highest quality microphones and recording equipment, beginner to advanced.

    Policies & Fees:

    Music Students are guaranteed (4) 1/2 hour lessons for $140.00. If music student calls in to miss a class within a 24 hour period then it is at the music educator’s discretion to make-up the class. Music Recital Fees must be paid in advance for student to perform in annual music productions.

    Music Recital Fee – $35.00

    Annual Music Registration Fee – $35.00
