    Guidelines for Pre-Professional Levels

Pre-Professional levels are per placement only

Pre-Pro Classes – Pre-Pro Classes indicate the Pre-Professional Division. This division is for students wishing to pursue a more serious place in dance such as pointe work, company preparation, and additional performance opportunities.

    Pre- Pro Ballet -
Pre-Pro X – Two Ballet Classes per week required
Pre-Pro XI – Three Ballet Classes per week required
Pre-Pro XII & XIII – Four Ballet Classes per week required

Pre-Pro Jazz and Modern Classes must take at least one ballet class per week to attend these classes.
*Please note:  The Pre-Professional discounted rate will be adjusted manually to your account after registration.

    Guidelines for Pointe Levels:
Pointe X – Two 1 hour pointe class per week
Pointe XI:     Three 1 hour pointe classes per week
Pointe XII:    Three 1 hour classes per week including pointe and variations
Pointe XIII:   Three 1 hour classes per week including pointe, variations, and/or pas des deux

Requirements for some One Hour Disciplines

Expect your child to be in each level at least 2 years – this is generally.

*** We place your child according to their individual progression – we take great care in placing a student in a level that will progress them in the most effective way possible. We do not place children as a group.

Hip Hop 7-8 – Students are required to be enrolled in one ballet or one jazz class.

Hip Hop Ages 9-11 – Students are allowed to take a Hip Hop class if registered in a technique jazz class for ages 9-11. We stress introducing jazz technique at this age – not just one style of jazz. (pre-requisite only those students below the age of 12).

Contemporary Intensive – Students must be enrolled (for ages 9-11) in ballet and jazz or (for ages 12&up) in ballet and modern or jazz.

Modern – Modern I/II 7-8 - No additional class requirements

Cheer Dance 8-11 – Students are required to be enrolled in one ballet or one jazz class.

Dance Team Prep – Ages 12&up - A class specifically designed for preparation of dance team and required movements. Must be enrolled in ballet in order to progress at a faster pace in required dance team techniques.

Theatre Dance –  Ages 10 & up - A class specifically designed for the theater student who desires instruction in dance movements choreographed to popular Broadway shows. Instruction is in jazz and tap.

Music Program – ½ hr weekly private instruction is available in piano, guitar, and/or voice

*Ballet is the most beneficial form of dance for progression. If your child is interested in becoming a more advanced dancer it is vital that ballet be a part of their dance education.

Pointe - We take great care in placing students on pointe.  Students must be in Pre-Professional Division in order to be evaluated for pointe work.  Taking care of your child’s physical well being is our concern when placing them on pointe – a student placed on pointe too early can cause serious life-time damage.  Pointe work is an additional aspect of training for the strong ballet student – it should never be considered a part of the basic technique of ballet training.  We take pride in our strict criteria for this placement – for the safety and well being of your child – and for your child’s further progression in dance.

The GAD Directors, Artistic and Administrative Staff are here to answer any questions you may have concerning the placement of your child.

We value your children and find great joy in teaching them an art form we love so much!  If you would like to meet or send questions via email contact me at
    sherri@gadance.com.

I will be happy to assist you and your child in their performing arts education!
